Mikes Laughs

Hey my Dentist advised me the best way to save my teeth.

1. Brush after every meal
2. Regular checkups at the Dentist
3. Keep your nose out of other peoples business.

Laugh a Minute

My grandad used to race pigeons - but he never used to win.

My cat is so clever, I sat it down by the fire, and said to it,
What is 2-2 and the cat said nothing.

A elderly Jew was arranging his funeral with the Rabbi. At the end of the discussion he said Oh I have forgot my Champion European Pigeon must be buried with me. The Rabbi said, we don't bury pigeons in our cemetery, the elderly man said that he had asked the local vicar to bury the pigeon, but he wanted £50.00. The rabbi thought for a moment and replied. Why did you not tell me that it was a Jewish pigeon!!.

A walk local to Hinksford lead by Pam Orwell

Thursday night walks have now ended for a further twelve months and the month of August seemed empty without them. We have been informed by the Thursday night secretary that the two months that they were running was a very successful period of time and we can only now wait until 2009 for the walks to start up again.

A stile local to Alverley Country park

Walks during August have been completed with only one being cancelled due to the awful dull / wet weather that seems to have prolonged itself through the complete period of the month.

The walks continue to start from the official meeting point of Birmingham Street car park as advised by the Club rules, although there are some grumbles from one of our walking days, about the necessity of having this meeting point. Changing this would amount to leaving members stranded for various reasons in Stourbridge and therefore not able to get to the start of the days walk which would be many miles away.

This starting point appears to satisfy the remainder of the Club members who walk on all further five walking days.

Pioneer Great Witley walk

I pioneered my Great Witley walk 21-08-08 with Brett Workman and his Eight year old grandson Jacob, who is a club member. Was he tired after the walk? He sat in the car for the 20 mile journey back home reading a book, and then wanted to go & play with his friends .
The walk consisted of the 3 hills, and what hills they are, Brett and myself found the going a bit tough but young Jacob kept up a steady pace for the whole 5 miles.

The clock tower at Abberley built in 1883 known locally as Jones's Folly (after the builder) stands at 49 meters high and cost £12,000 to build.

We are off

We have had a committee meeting on the 4th August when we discussed the new Blog page and it was not considered to be a topic that many were happy with.

However it may be an alternative / part of the website which may interest club members. We have taken away the Links page and added a Blog page. This will mean that all club members that may be interested in taking an active part in the club's website can add their messages to this page in the form of a diary comment.

If club members wish to take part in this interesting development, then please contact Colin Buswell for the password and further information.
